Zinnetango is a tango group formed in Brussels in the spring of 2021. This international quartet consists of top musicians from Argentina, Belgium and Estonia. A shared passion for the tango tradition reflects both the enthusiasm and picardy of the “guardia vieja” and the melancholy of the “guardia nueva.” The repertoire includes works by Pugliese, Gobbi, Salgán, Piazzolla, Spinetta, Jacques Brel and many others. Representing a new generation of Argentine-European tango, the ensemble presents its vision of world music through original arrangements and compositions. Zinnetango aims to bring together classical and popular programs by distributing tango in both concert halls and dance clubs. The group debuted at the highest level in September 2021 with a Baltic tour with living tango legend and also artistic advisor of the Dutch International Tangoweek, Omar Mollo.
What does tango actually sound like when you can understand the lyrics? In tango culture, poetry plays an important role. For most Dutch people, the feel to the lyrics of original Tangos is hard to fathom. That’s why we set the finest Dutch pop poetry to tango music. Songs by Stef Bos, Harry Jekkers and Ramses Shaffy. Familiar lyrics, but set to tango music. A unique and one-off concert developed especially for Dutch International Tangoweek. The arrangements are by pianist Wim Warman, who has previously developed several performances as a tango arranger. Singer Esther Ephraim sings all the lyrics. The Dutch Tangoweek Orchestra also includes: Ruzana Tsymbalova on violin, Taco Nieuwenhuizen Segaar on double bass and Gert van Ruiswijk on bandoneon.

El Juntacadáveres brings a perfect blend of traditional tango orchestras and the rebelliousness of today’s music. Their music is a steamy mix of tango, hip-hop, electro, rock, reggae and Latin…. a combination of explosive energy, amazing twists and turns. The band was founded by Argentine musician Enrique Noviello and joined by musicians from different countries and different musical genres. The band has previously performed at well-known festivals such as Sziget in Budapest. For those who still think that tango music is boring, they should definitely come and listen.

A musical flight full of love and jealousy, joy and melancholy. Trio Escapada swings like life itself with tango, improvisations and new compositions. Three top musicians combine their musical talents in this glowing trio. Rooted in Argentine tango and classical music, this piano trio moves virtuosically along the boundaries of genres. Trio Escapada plays tango, world music and new music, improvising and composing. With this original and personal repertoire as well as an adventurous performance, Trio Escapada stands out in the Dutch music scene. The musicians are true masters on their instruments and set any venue ablaze with their dynamic and passionate playing.
Breedveld, Huszar and Van Delft have earned their spurs in classical music and tango. They play and have played with the Ives Ensemble, the Floreal String Quartet and Lunatree, among others. They are true masters of their instrument and combine it with an adventurous performance. For a surprising and moving concert, all you have to do is get carried away on their flight.

The Pavadita Tango String Quartet is known for creating and playing extraordinary tango music performances. With great attention and respect for tradition, violinists Sofie Maria de Rijk, Claudia Valenzuela, Maria Sofia Espiga Fonseca and cellist Eva van de Poll play the stars of heaven. With their programs they toured the well-known classical venues in recent years.
Their program Tanguistoria, which they play during Dutch International Tangoweek, features the entire spectrum of tango music. The quartet leads the listener through an era of passion and cultural blending of European genres such as the Habanera and the Polacca with African rhythms. Beautiful colorful poetry by Horacio Ferrer, Jorge Luis Borges and others will punctuate the concert.

Tango music, like jazz, is an improvisational music movement. In a line-up featuring WIm Warman (piano), Vincent Houdijk (vibraphone), Jasper van Damme (saxophone) and Omar Mollo (vocals), we will let you hear what improvised tango music sounds like. A concert for connoisseurs of sparkling music. The musicians’ interplay and talent for improvisation makes this concert a unique experience.
The musicians in this performance have all made their mark in jazz music. Jasper van Damme studied at the conservatories of Rotterdam and Amsterdam, where he took lessons with Dick Oatts, Ferdinand Povel and Benjamin Herman, among others. In 2012, he graduated with a 10 from the Master’s program at the Amsterdam Conservatory of Music. Vincent Houdijk is a virtuoso, versatile, Dutch percussionist, with a preference for his specialization; the vibraphone. The combination of his classical and jazz studies gave him a broad view on music. Houdijk has an investigative attitude, curious about many various types of collaborations within music and musical styles. Wim Warman is artistic advisor to the Dutch International Tangoweek. His years of experience in Argentine Tango and its improvisation make him a perfect candidate to lead this performance. Omar Mollo is also artistic advisor to the Dutch International Tangoweek. He has been nominated several times for a Latin Grammy and is a winner of the prestigious Carlos Gardel Award.
