Omar Mollo & Juan Pablo Dobal
Bio and Occupation
Two big names from Argentina. Together on an intimate stage in the Netherlands. A unique combination that you won't encounter again on Dutch stages in a hurry. Together they bring the music from their youth and from their homeland. Small and intimate, compelling and powerful. A concert especially for listeners who want to be moved.
Juan Pablo Dobal, born in Buenos Aires, plays the piano from the age of 5. He took lessons with Blaca Barquin and Antonio de Raco. At the age of seventeen he graduated as a piano teacher and won first prize at the Conservatorio de Música de Buenos Aires Alberto Williams. At the age of 22 he also obtained his diploma for music teacher at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música C. L. Buchardo. He worked with many famous names, including Lilian Vieira, Beatriz Aguiar, Amelita Baltar, Larissa Groeneveld, Esther Apituley, Nynke Laverman, Raymond van het Groenewoud, Stef Bos, Eric Vloeimans, Leonardo Amuedo, Jaime Rodríguez, Hernán Ruíz, Orlando Miño, Fernando Lameirinhas, Alfredo Marcucci, Fabián Russo, Ernesto Snajer, Gustavo Toker and the Aurelia Saxophone Quartet.
Omar Mollo lived in Pergamino, a rural town in the north of the province of Buenos Aires. Here he started singing and learned to play the guitar. In a few years he was a young and excellent guitarist, and the leader of a legendary rock band in the western suburbs. One day however, as if following the strange fortune of an imaginative plan, Mollo stumbled upon the tango and once they were face to face, the tango spoke directly to him, and he heard it say: "Hey, you're old enough now to start telling us the things that actually happen to us". In May 2018, the digital edition "TANGO COSMOPOLITA" was launched on the commercial market and Sony Music Argentina, simultaneously in physical formats CD and vinyl. It is nominated for a Latin Grammy
